Alchemical Healing
Alchemical healing is a spiritual philosophy that views illness and suffering as opportunities for profound transformation and personal growth. Drawing on ancient traditions of alchemy, which sought to transmute base metals into gold, alchemical healing emphasizes the purification and refinement of the body, mind and spirit. Practitioners believe that by facing and integrating the shadow aspects of the self, such as repressed emotions, trauma or negative thought patterns, one can achieve a state of wholeness and enlightenment.
Alchemical healing employs a variety of techniques to uncover the hidden patterns and blockages that contribute to disease. The ultimate goal is the creation of the "philosopher's stone" within, a state of spiritual illumination and embodied presence that radiates health and vitality.
Dr Babbie currently studies with Lorie Dechar and Benjamin Fox, founders of A New Possibility - which focuses on The Alchemy of the Spirit. Lorie and Benjamin’s goal is to "weave the wisdom and potency of acupuncture and Chinese medicine into a broader framework in order to support healing and transformation at the heart of our being – the psyche, soul and spirit".
Classical Chinese Medicine
Classical Chinese medicine, rooted in the ancient philosophies of Taoism and Confucianism, views the body as a microcosm of the natural world, governed by the complementary forces of yin and yang. This holistic approach emphasizes harmony and balance within the body, mind and spirit, believing that illnesses arise from imbalances or blockages in the flow of vital energy, known as qi.
Treatment methods, such as acupuncture and herbal medicine, aim to restore equilibrium by manipulating the body's meridians, or energy pathways, and promoting the free flow of qi. By recognizing the interconnectedness of all things, practitioners consider an individual's unique constitution and lifestyle, rather than focusing on isolated symptoms. By addressing the root cause of disharmony, Classical Chinese Medicine seeks to promote overall well-being and prevent future ailments, reflecting the ancient wisdom of living in harmony with the natural rhythms of the universe.
Dr. Babbie’s M.S. of Oriental Medicine and Naturopathic Doctor degrees involved coursework and clinical work in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs and Herbal Formulas, and additional instruction in Tai Chi and Qi Gong. She offers knowledgeable insight into any condition.

Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic Medicine is a distinct system of holistic healthcare guided by the philosophy that the body has an inherent ability to heal itself when provided the right conditions. Naturopathic doctors view symptoms of illness as indications that the body is out of balance, emphasizing the importance of identifying and removing obstacles to the self-healing process rather than merely suppressing symptoms.
Key principles include treating the whole person, treating the root cause and emphasizing disease prevention through the optimization of lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise and stress management. Naturopathic practice draws upon both ancient knowledge and modern scientific research, utilizing gentle therapeutics and non-invasive treatments like nutrition, herbal medicine, hydrotherapy and homeopathy.
The Naturopathic approach seeks to stimulate the body's vital force to restore optimal functioning of the physical, mental and emotional aspects of being. By working cooperatively with the healing power of nature, Naturopathic Medicine aims to empower individuals to achieve their highest levels of health and well-being.
