Classical Chinese Medicine is a holistic system of medicine which combines the art and science of human care developed over millennia. The study of classical Chinese medicine involves expanding one’s concept of science in order to gain new insights into health and healing. Classical Chinese Medicine reflects the voices of an international movement seeking to honor and restore the classical origins of Chinese medicine.
We are seeing a return to the time-honored values of living in harmony with nature and the essence of being fully human. This journey toward genuine health and wholeness is precipitated by the present blossoming of the traditions of holistic medicine, with Chinese medicine blazing the trail. Classical Chinese medicine represents one of humanity’s richest and uninterrupted streams of traditional knowledge. It is a highly sophisticated clinical system that offers a real alternative for the serious health care needs of our time.
Dr. Babbie Lester studied Classical Chinese Medicine (CCM) at National College of Natural Medicine. The Classical Chinese Medicine approach seeks to foster awareness about the multi-dimensional depth of Chinese medicine, and to remain rooted to the classical teachings of Chinese medical philosophy. The school emphasizes a “scholar–practitioner” educational style designed to achieve their mission of “transmitting the art, science, and spirit of Chinese medicine to cultivate practitioners rooted in the ancient tradition of the medical scholar.” The CCM community believes that the exploration and embodiment of the original tenets and practices of this medicine are essential if we are to bring its true power to today’s patients.
Dr. Babbie earned her M.S. of Oriental Medicine in addition to her Naturopathic Doctor degree. With over 3700 individual hours of coursework and clinical work in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs and Herbal Formulas, and additional instruction in Tai Chi and Qi Gong, she offers knowledgeable insight into any condition.
